VERSE 1
I don’t know if a vow of poverty
Would come and be the death of me
I don’t know

I don’t know if I lack in trust and faith
Or if it’s wisdom that I stay
I don’t know

PRE-CHORUS 1
Jesus are you embellishing
To make a point
Or are your words for a select few

If I hold my possessions loosely
Can I keep them close
Or is this the narrow road I’m called to

CHORUS
And they say
Save up your treasure
You never know
When something might go wrong

But he says
Store up your treasure
Keep it deep in heaven
Where it belongs

VERSE 2
I don’t know if a tunic is enough
To get me by when times get rough
I don’t know
I don’t know if a sword can make it right
Transgression often has a price
I don’t know

PRECHORUS 2
Jesus did you
Ever have a time of want
Did you store all your coins in fishes

Can you trust me with what
the wealthy women gave you
Would I be Judas with your riches

BRIDGE 1
Brother Francis
You’ve betrayed us
You showed that it’s possible

Brother Francis
Why’d you listen
You made it less implausible

BRIDGE 2
But if his eye is on the sparrow
And even grass gets his attention
Then surely he will see me
Surely I’m not alone

And if my savior had no place to lay
His head even on his birthday
Then maybe dens and nests
Are overrated for a home

And if he counts the hairs upon my head
If he’s really that meticulous
Then maybe I can trust that
He won’t leave me on my own

For the God who brought himself below
A refugee our cornerstone
A homeless man to call our own
A criminal pierced through the bone
What wisdom calls me down this road
To places still unknown
