There’s a parable Jesus told where everyone gets hired at a different time, but they all get paid the same wage. Through a Caucasian lens, this parable kind of feels unjust. But as one Latino Bible scholar points out, for the Latino trying to find work all day with no luck, it’s actually a parable of justice.
It’s important to read the Bible through different cultural lenses. There are many dynamics the Spirit wants to communicate that we miss when we only see things through similar eyes.
All of this being said, there’s a new resource that just came out that I’m excited to read, called The New Testament in Color. It’s edited by some great authors. Can’t wait to check it out!
