Your favorite musical curmudgeon is back! Don’t get me wrong—I love music. I just have become increasingly hard to impress over the years. It may be that I have great taste, but it’s most certainly that I’m just old. You can check out the albums that got my attention in the first half here. Below are the few that grabbed my attention in the second half.
11. The Beautiful Letdown (Live from Los Angeles)
The Beautiful Letdown is one of my favorite albums of all time. That being said, it was cool to see the album be recreated, covered, and now released as another live show. Lots of nostalgia there for me.
10. Artificial Paradise by OneRepublic
While I didn’t listen to this album a ton, it’s creativity and general sound hit well for me.
9. The Heavy. The Healing. The Holding.
A great progressive, atmospheric sound.
8. moment. by moment. worship
Stumbled across this worship album the other day. Nice intimate lyrics with creative influence.
7. Death of Death by Sam McCabe
I’m always happy when the lyrics of a worship album catch my attention. I especially enjoy the song, Backwards Kingdom.
6. In Bloom
A nice chill album from Jon Foreman. Great for relaxing or working in a coffee house.
5. Pixelated Haze by Dawson Hollow
A unique sound that’s well worth a listen to.
4. Child of God by Forrest Frank
I don’t think I’m young enough to like Forrest Frank and I initially didn’t think I would. But this guy has continued to keep my attention with his releases.
Family Business by Lawrence
3. My favorite kind of upbeat music: funky and talented.
2. Liberated by Joshua Luke Smith
I hadn’t heard of this artist until a few weeks ago, but I really dig him. I’m very specific about the kind of rap I like, and this is that kind.
1. Love Like You by Emma Nissen
Where the heck did this album come from!? I’ve rarely heard Christian music have such skill in musicianship and vocals. A great and surprising album.
