“The world needs a man,
A manly man of men.”
The Father birthed a baby,
Who stayed a virgin to the end.
“The world needs a man
Who won’t run away from a fight.”
The Father sent his refugee,
And to Egypt he took flight.
“The world needs a man,
Made of work and sweat and blood.”
The Father sent them Woman Wisdom,
And told them she was man enough.
“The world needs a man,
Someone who says it like it is.”
The Father sent his prophet,
They didn’t care for his two cents.
“The world needs a man
Who gives sinners their what-for.”
The Father sent his zeal,
The temple’s tables on the floor.
“The world needs a man,
Who knows his way around the sword.”
The Father sent his Word,
Who sheathed it all and said, “No more.”
“The world needs a man,
Who’s not afraid to get his hands dirty.”
The Father sent his doctor,
To commune with the sick and hurting.
“The world needs a man,
Who shows no weakness and no fear.”
The Father put on skin like them,
And sweat blood as trouble neared.
“The world needs a man,
Someone full of strength and power.”
The Father sent them his head angel,
Who stayed legions at his hour.
“The world needs a man,
Someone who can take a life.”
The father sent his only son,
They hung him on a cross to die.
Who is the man you’re waiting for?
You assume he’s changed with time?
That Jesus then is not Jesus now?
His character redesigned?
The man you want does not exist,
Indeed, he never did.
Instead of waiting for said “manhood,”
See in Jesus what man is.
