VERSE 1
If you wanna learn English
Then you gotta know its quirks
Like I before E except after C unless the word
Is “foreign” or is “neighbor”
Then the rules are all reversed
You can toss them out the window
And just do what you prefer
(You can ship ’em overseas
As far as the government’s concerned)

PRECHORUS 1
An American can show you the way
Of the rules that you’re supposed to break
If you don’t wanna look dumb
Follow our rules of thumb
Or you’ll miss what is proper today
(TDS is a hard thing to break)

VERSE 2
To be a proper Christian
Well you gotta go to church
so we can teach you how to love
Unless your neighbor’s a foreigner
Don’t you worry bout your bible
You can skip the red letters
We can bind what Jesus loosed
The second law is not the first
(You know a refugee like Jesus
Sure could use a good chauffeur)

PRECHORUS 2
Take the sunglasses off of your eyes
Just obey and you’ll be just fine
We’ve got bullets and guns
And some stories we’ve spun
To address every critic and lie
(For today’s forecast, it’s raining sewage from the sky. Again.)

CHORUS 1
America America
Heaven’s road is not straight in America
There are unspoken rules
And you’ll look like a fool
If you follow our Lord in America

CHORUS 2
America America
Heaven’s Gate looks like Hell in America
Where gators are cops
And the ice is nonstop
There’s no space for Christ’s words in America

ENDING
All those blessed be’s might work somewhere else.
But not here.
Not in America.
