“God, would you PLEASE take this away from me?”

Have you ever begged God to end that sin in your life that you’re so tired of doing? How many times? Do you feel like he’s given up on you? Have you given up on you? Why won’t he answer that prayer? He wants you to stop. You want you to stop. Why won’t it stop?

Don’t worry friend. It might feel faraway, but God’s healing is for you. There’s just something you’re missing. Sin is a symptom of our wounds, so when we beg God to take away our symptoms without asking him to address the wounds, nothing happens. This is less about how hard you can try to be better and more about how deep you’re willing to let God go.

What are you dealing with? Pride? Greed? Lust? Jealousy? Gluttony? Rage? Apathy? This is what good things look like after they’ve been twisted. If you want them to go away, give God some time to help you untwist them back to what they originally were.

Courage dear ones. God made you good, not evil. There is freedom for you, but just have to start at the roots, not the branches. God is not afraid of your pain and he knows how to heal it. You can trust him with your baggage.
