So in the Jewish literature of Jesus’ time it was clear that the Jews saw this psalm as a prophecy of a coming figure, similar to how John the Baptist was the coming Elijah figure. When the New Testament finally pins who this prophetic Melchizedek figure is, it points to Jesus in Hebrews 6-7. Hope that helps clear things up.
