A Morbid Silent Night

I did music for Silent Saturday at the Fossores Chapter House tonight. I had the idea to rewrite a Christmas song in a sentimental, yet morbid way. Here’s some lyrics to meditate on for this holy day.

Silent night holy night
Nothing’s calm, nothing’s right
Weep yon virgin mother awhile
For your child so tender and mild
Wait for heavenly peace
Wait for heavenly peace

Silent night holy night
Soldiers quake at the sight
Glories stream to Hades afar
Tombs give way to alleluia
Christ our Brother is dead
But Christ the Savior is born

Silent night holy night
Son of God love’s pure light
Linen cloths for Thy holy face
At the tomb of redeeming grace
Jesus King on Thy cross
Jesus King on Thy cross

Silent night holy night
Wondrous star descends to die
With the angels let us sing
Alleluia to our King
Christ our Brother is dead
But Christ the Savior is born
