There are two main things that lead to porn: passion and pain, often in tandem with one another.
Passion leads to a sexual gluttony of sorts—a search for excess satisfaction and pleasure. The hope that more of a good feeling will raise one’s spirit.
Pain leads to a sexual medication of sorts—a search to find intimacy with others, self, or God. To know and be known. To be completely seen and still accepted.
The camera takes what is special, secret, and sacred and puts it on display to create the illusion of these things. But because porn is absent of all intimacy, one feels no closer to others, self, or God after. Rather, they often feel alone, sad, and ashamed.
Sex is meant to be a form of intimacy—not intimacy a form of sex. The imitation fast food of porn carries no nutritional value or taste because intimacy only works as a slow cook.
