  • New Years Worship 2025

Did some spontaneous worship with Stefan Bozman, Amity Zenz, and Casey Mellinger to usher in the New Year!

  • From Genre Theory to Graphic Novels: My Top Picks of 2024

Because I didn’t have much control over what I was reading the last two years while getting my Master’s, I gave my mind a bit of a reading break in 2024. That being said, of the books I did read, these were the best. Modern Genre Theory by Andrew Judd If you want to know…

  • New Class: The Holy Spirit, Spiritual Gifts, & Spiritual Movements

An old dream will come true for me in the spring as I become an adjunct professor at Spring Arbor University. Not only that, but I’ll be teaching my dream class: THE307 – The Holy Spirit, Spiritual Gifts, & Spiritual Movements. And not only that, but I pray it’s a way to honor Ken Brewer—the…

  • Cinematic Highlights of 2024: A Year at the Movies

Once I became an adult and realized I could go to the movie theater and eat a bucket of popcorn whenever I wanted, I started doing so. That being said, I frequent the theater often. Here were my favorite movies of 2024! 10. Wonka A delightfully charming musical with a vibrant set and cinematography. 10.…

  • The Gospel of the Gummy Bear Bratwurst

During a recent visit to the grocery store wonderland that is Horrocks, I came across a gummy bear brat, which is exactly what it sounds like: a bratwurst with gummy bears inside of it. This strange combination originated out of Wisconsin and has grown in popularity. I bought myself a few of them, but I…

  • Mama’s Boy: Mary and the Birth of Jesus’ Prophetic Vision

Where did Jesus get his social justice drive from? Partially from the prophetic drive of the Holy Spirit. Partially from growing up surrounded by injustice. And also partially from his mama. As Mary processes the news of her miracle baby, she sings, He has shown strength with his arm; he has scattered the proud in the…

  • From Traffic Jams to the Nativity: Finding God in Inconvenience

Over the last month, I’ve often rolled my eyes as I’ve driven down business 127. There’s a strange pipe sticking out of the middle of the road. People are confusing gaps between the orange cones as intentional openings. Four lanes of traffic have turned into two. Some people spent an entire stoplight’s length trying to…

  • The Social Gospel: How Justice Reveals Our Heavenly Allegiance

Grace and forgiveness are essential for the carriers of Christian justice, but when practiced alone, they can become the absence of justice. Such kindness may turn around the lives of some, and we can celebrate those moments, but profoundly hardened and unrepentant people may use that grace to continue their injustice to even greater extents. Since…

  • Four Original Christmas Songs: A Musical Journey Through the Nativity at 1208 Greenwood Church

1208 Greenwood Church presents four original Christmas songs that beautifully reflect the story of Christ’s birth through heartfelt lyrics and melodies. Each song offers a unique perspective inspired by Scripture, weaving together the voices of Mary, the prophecies, and the hope of salvation. Featuring: “Mary’s Hannah Song”: A blend of Mary’s Magnificat and Hannah’s song…

  • Listening to the Marginalized: Hearing the Spirit’s Call

All humans and heavenly beings are made in the image of Yahweh (Gen. 1:26-27), so there is always a chance that the powers of this world will do things here and there that echo Yahweh’s will. When such moments come, we may join them in those efforts, recognizing that good has broken through. Justice, after…
