Reveal 2025: The Creative Spirit is tomorrow! You were made in God’s creative image and creativity was one of the earliest spiritual gifts in the Bible (Exodus 31:3–4). We want to help you engage creativity with the Holy Spirit so that you can bring Heaven to Earth in a new way. Here’s what you’re in for tomorrow:
ORIGINAL MUSIC & POETRY | Amity Grace, JaiBird, Joel Bradley and myself will be sharing some original music and poetry, the stories behind the songs, and even display original art work that showcases our projects. There will even be a few new songs that have been created since our Jackson Underground event this summer.
CREATIVE ENGAGEMENT | Melissa Evans has spent much of her career creating avenues for people to engage with the Spirit during worship. She’ll teach us how we can do the same and give us some projects that we can interact with during the event.
CHURCH PLANTING IDEAS | My friend Rev. Todd Seelau has started over 40 micro-churches in the last places you expected, like jails and casinos. Having played around with creative expressions of the church over the years, like Dinner Church, Nerd Church JXN, and JXN Cloud, I’m super excited to have an expert like Todd show us the way forward in creative church planting.
OUR OWN PERSONAL FILM THEOLOGIAN | Every time Dallas Flippin and I catch up, we will undoubtedly talk about theological studies and our favorite movies. At one point we started The Fantastic Movie Podcast to capture these kinds of conversations. I know no pastor-theologian more gifted at extracting the gospel out of the creativity of film than Dallas, and I wanted Reveal to highlight this gift of his, because film knows so well how to use creativity to engage our heart, soul, and minds with a message. This session will help you think about and experience the Holy Spirit and film in a new way.
THE THEOLOGICAL GROUNDS OF CREATIVITY | I’ll give us a Biblical glimpse into how the Spirit inspires creativity in us and through us and why it’s essential that we are creative beings. We’ll look into the poetry, parables, and play-acting of ancient Bible characters and make our way to the more recent works of J.R.R. Tolkien, to C.S. Lewis to see how creativity changes the world.
When you’re doing a Holy Spirit conference, people often want to hear about the weird stuff: prophecy, tongues, deliverance, miracles, etc. These are all good and we’ve covered them in the past, but we want our annual Reveal conferences to create space for us to learn about all of the aspects of the Holy Spirit. Creativity is one of my favorite topics and I can’t want to explore it with you!
